                 IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Dear Friends:

We would like to extend a warm welcome to those of you visiting our website for the first time. For those of you who have been here before, welcome back. The last year has brought a flood of new guns, changes in our packages, sights and other parts. We have just completed a major revision of the site to reflect numerous updates, better organization and increased flexibility. At this writing, it is important to note that we do not have available a print catalog. In view of the costs and ever-changing roster of services, we may simply forge on into the 21rst Century without one and concentrate on the website catalog. Please pay close attention not  only to the Terms section and ordering information found at the Contact Us section but to the catalog descriptions themselves. If you elect to proceed with an order, please note also the information and terms supplied with the downloadable order form.

We would like to invite you to visit the BOOK  section for information about The Custom Revolver  . Several years in the making, this book sets out in one place for the first time a detailed look at the world of custom revolvers. Heavily illustrated with much discussion of every facet of the topic, it should answer many commonly asked questions and offer food for thought when contemplating a custom revolver project. There is also much useful information on quality, accuracy, revolver making and the basic guns themselves that will be of great interest to all revolver owners and enthusiasts.

In order to provide not only the finest in custom revolver craftsmanship but also our best possible customer service, we offer our services in packaged form rather than a la carte. These modifications are carefully selected and coordinated to offer superior function, appearance and value. Our packages are based not only on our considerable experience in the shop but also on the tremendous field experience of our clients. We regret that we cannot, as a general rule, entertain smaller jobs, particularly repairs and remedial work. Ordering is simple. Just select the appropriate package and add any desirable modifications from the options lists. Customers will need to supply the basic guns for the service packages outlined in the catalog.

At this writing, we can typically deliver most smaller jobs in 6-12 weeks. Even most major caliber conversions should require no more than 3-6 months but please bear in mind that these are only our best estimates and that we cannot be closely bound to them. Unexpected delays can and do occur because of defective guns, part procurement, tool grinding and the like. Neither does our time meter run while other craftsmen--engravers, barrel reborers, finishers, etc.-- have a hand in the job. We would also like to advise that payment is due on receipt of invoices even though completion of the work may still be months away. When we send out guns to other craftsmen, our part of the job is largely done, except, perhaps, for final finishing, bluing, etc. While we are pleased to assist clients with arranging these services, we can extend this courtesy only with the understanding that prompt payment of our invoices is forthcoming even though delivery may be some time yet.

A special note on grips. Our dear old friend Roy Fishpaw is no longer taking new customers which means that there is far more grips to make that grip makers to deal with them. Deliveries on custom grips can easily run to a year from our other friends in the trade. We never know when the guns will return and cannot intelligently field questions about transactions to which we are not a party. Accordingly, we can no longer assist with grip work logistics. We'll complete our work, including bluing and coloring, and then return the guns with the stock grips. At this writing (January 2008), our recommended makers are Paul Persinger of El Paso, TX and Dustin Linebaugh of Powell, WY. We'll be happy to adivse contact info on request.

2008 marks the 28th year of formal operations here at Bowen Classic Arms Corporation. These years have seen great progress across the pistol-building trade as evidenced by craftsmanship of ever greater refinement and sophistication. Bowen Classic Arms has been in the thick of it (indeed, we literally wrote the book on the subject). We would be pleased to participate in your next custom revolver project and share our expertise with you. Enjoy your visit to our website.

Sincerely yours,

Hamilton S. Bowen
