Please note: these modifications are not available separately unless marked by an asterisk (*) and are otherwise offered only on the packages outlined in this section of the catalog.

No. C210 Set headspace and cylinder endfloat  Headspace is checked and set as required. Cylinder endfloat is set to the minimum consistent with free rotation and receiver condition. Please note that the barrel-to-cylinder gap may have to be set if excessive (No. C220). Note also that this modification describe a cylinder installation.

C210 $60

No. C220 Set barrel-to-cylinder gap Set at .005--.006. Includes refitting the ejector housing and recutting the forcing cone. Excess cylinder endfloat and headspace, if not corrected, may require a longer gap. In some cases, the cylinder must be faced square to maintain a consistent gap. This procedure is also properly cited for installing a barrel.

C220 $125

No. C230 (*) Hone/ream cylinder throats and necks Occasionally, revolver cylinders may be manufactured with undersize throats, chamber necks or both, a condition harmful to accuracy and prone to cause leading unless corrected.

C230 $75

No. C240 Regulate sights Colt single-action revolvers rarely shoot to point of aim. Sights are filed and barrels turned to adjust regulation. Black Hills traditional-style factory ammunition is used as far as possible in order to provide a useful standard. C240 $105

C241 $75

No. C300 Shorten factory barrels As far as possible, we recommend the installation of new, shorter barrels. Otherwise, this is not the simple job it seems. It requires considerable time to do properly in the factory style and is charged accordingly. Available in all standard lengths and includes polishing and rebluing. ‘New Frontier’ model barrels require our own custom front sight. For lengths cut to 4 inches, please cite No. 301 which includes drilling/tapping  new tube screw hole and shortening the tube, ejector rod, spring and base pin (not available for 4 ¾ in. barrels). Please note: 4 inch lengths may vary somewhat due to the slot layout in the ejector housing. Sight regulation per cat. No. C240 is necessary.

C300 From $250

C301 From $325

No. C310 (*) Fabricate and install custom barrel Our barrels are made from high-quality Douglas (or similar) barrel stock in most calibers. Some odd numbers, such as the .38-40, may require cut-rifled material and incur a slight extra charge. Colt-style rounded crown and front sight are standard. Includes silver-soldered ejector housing stud, authentic markings and bluing. On ‘New Frontier’ models, we use our proprietary custom front sight. Pre-war style roll markings available; please inquire for a quotation.

C310 From $595

No. C320 Classic Colt pattern dovetail front sight  handsome, traditional base dovetails directly into the barrel and is drift-adjustable for windage. Slotted for removable blades which can be made of various materials (including old coins) and cut to various shapes and heights. These cannot replace an existing front sight due to the conflict with the existing sight slot and must be installed in conjunction with cat. Nos. C300, C301 and C310.

C320 From $195

No. C330(*) Rechamber factory cylinder Cylinders may be rechambered to many of the usual Colt caliber offerings, a less costly alternative to a custom cylinder. The procedure allows for improved chamber and throat specifications which improve accuracy. The .38 Special and .357 Magnum cylinders are suited to any of the larger calibers, including the .38-40, .41 Colt, .44-40, .44 Russian, .44 Special and .45 Schofield. Contemporary .38-40 and .44-40 cylinders will accommodate .45 Colt cahmbers. Does not include the cylinder or fitting. Parts subject to availability and market price.
