Because receiver dimensions vary considerably from gun to gun, a cylinder made to a fixed set of specifications will rarely ever fit properly and have correct chamber-to-barrel alignment. Fitting an oversize base pin, bolt bearing block and trigger pivot spacer provides tight, accurate cylinder lock-up. Precise lock-up, in turn, permits line-boring the cylinder. Using special fixtures and tooling, the cylinder pilot holes are located and bored through the receiver ring which affords the best possible chamber-to-barrel alignment. Cylinder bearing surfaces in the receiver are also recut to minimize cylinder endlfoat. These procedures keep the cylinder movement in any direction to an absolute minimum. Headspace is set to SAAMI minimum specs. The receivers are modified to accept oversize cylinders. The bolt notches of the 5-shot unfluted cylinders fall between the chambers rather than over them where the chamber walls are thinnest. The longer cylinders accept cartridges loaded with longer, heavier bullets for superior hunting performance and feature recessed case heads, where possible, to improve loading gate support. Oversize base pins with recoil locks are standard as are Bowen Classic Arms adjustable rear sights. Each conversion includes proper markings and factory quality rebluing. Cylinders feature conventional ratchets (except as noted) with a freewheel style available as an option. Please specify caliber and barrel length, where applicable. A variety of options are also available including a deluxe tune-up upgrade, coloring, steel ejector housing, etc. Chambered for: .41 and .44 Magnums: The standard magnum cartridges are excellent performers in the in long, 5-shot cylinders which will accommodate the heavy bullet loads so effective on big game. These chamberings are an excellent choice for shooters and hunters who wish to avoid extreme levels of recoil but still require adequate levels of performance for most big game hunting. .45 Colt: Loaded to its full potential (only in 5-shot cylinders), the .45 Colt is the most practical and flexible of all the big-bore revolver cartridges. It is capable of propelling 300-350 gr. bullets to 1400+ fps. .454 Casull: Offers .45 magnum levels of performance in a factory cartridge. .475 Linebaugh: Now a factory-loaded cartridge, the .475 Linebaugh is the most effective big game hunting revolver cartridge available. It is capable of shooting .400-430 gr. bullets to 1350+ fps. Recoil and muzzle blast are extremely severe and not for the inexperienced. .50 Calibers: The .50 Special is a wonderfully accurate and pleasant round with minimal recoil and muzzle blast, shooting 300-350 gr. bullets to 800-900 fps. The rimless .50 Action Express offers intermediate levels of performance perfect for deer-size animals. Now a factory-loaded cartridge, the .500 Linebaugh is the most powerful .50 and is an effective big game cartridge, especially at close range. It will heave 400-450 gr. bullets to 1200-1250 fps.

No. RS08 ‘Light-weight Long Hunter’ Based only upon std. Blackhawk and Vaquero models, these specialized revolvers are designed for conditions where minimum weight is essential and are ideal for pilots, fishermen and travelers who venture deep into the back country. Includes all of the modifications of the standard ‘Long Hunter’ plus a tapered 4 inch bbl., scalloped recoil shield and loading gate and a fluted cylinder. The stainless and Vaquero versions will include fitted aluminum ejector housings and grip frames with brushed finish. Please note: this is not a gun for the uninitiated. Recoil is vicious with full power loadings in any of these calibers.

Simple and effective, the straight, untapered 5 1/2 in. barrel with its integral band dampens severe recoil without jeopardizing graceful handling. Baughman ramp style blade is pinned to the express front sight base. Chambered in .41 and .44 Magnums, .45 Colt, .454 Casull and .50 Action Express. Includes a steel ejector housing. No. RS09S stainless variation will include the installation of Bisley grip frame, grips, hammer and trigger.

No. RS10 ‘Nimrod’ Same specifications as above except chambered for the.475 Linebaugh (large rim version available on request) and the .500 Linebaugh. The .475 is, without doubt, the most effective big game hunting revolver cartridge available, particularly where dangerous game is involved. Freewheel ratchet is standard.
