RUGER SINGLE-ACTION REVOLVERS
Thanks to sound engineering and the excellent materials used in their construction, Ruger single-action revolvers often require but a few simple modifications to bring out their performance potential. Carefully selected and combined, these features add a touch of refinement to any of the popular Ruger models. Use of our extensive options list enables clients to easily tailor these packages to their specific tastes and requirements.
Ruger Double-Action Revolvers
The Ruger Redhawk, with its simple modular design and massive components, is one of the sturdiest and most reliable double action revolvers ever produced. Certainly no other is as flexible and versatile. With the wide variety of modifications available, the Redhawk can be tailored to suit nearly any sporting application.
Please note: many of the procedures and modifications listed here are applicable to the Super Redhawk and GP-100, as well; please inquire with any questions. However, due to the difficulty of removing barrels without risk of damage to barrel and receiver and the problems of matching the factory coated finish, most modifications are not suited to the grey-finished .454 and .480 variants.
Freedom Arms Revolvers
Arguably the finest production revolvers in the world, Freedom Arms revolvers have a well-deserved reputation for both mechanical and finishing excellence. Bowen Classic Arms brings a ‘retro’ flair to the contemporary styling of the factory guns that is both unique and handsome. Starting with fixed-sight Model 1997 guns, the basic packages and options afford Freedom Arms enthusiast the opportunity to create one-of-a-kind, heirloom-quality revolvers that are still tough and accurate.
The Model 1997 is a small revolver, falling in size between the Colt Single-Action Army and the Ruger Single-Six. Still, in 5-shot form, the gun is capable of handling sensible loads in traditional large-frame revolver calibers such as the .44 Magnum and .45 Colt. In 6-shot form, the M1997 is perfectly scaled to a variety of small-bore rounds, including the .327 Federal Magnum and .22 rim-fires.
Please see the ‘Options’ section for a variety of other modifications. For more information on our Freedom Arms custom revolver work please see:
Vintage Single-Action Revolvers
The Colt Single Action Army is the definitive revolver. No other holds such a prominent place in the hearts and souls of American shooters. Bowen Classic Arms offers a variety of services designed to improve the function and dependability of Colt guns of recent vintage. While we work in the factory style, our goal is to build high-quality ‘using’ guns.
More important are the modifications that revive a measure of the grace and glory possessed of the lovely pre-war guns. Our caliber conversions, particularly the .32-20, afford enthusiasts the opportunity to sample long unavailable chamberings. The house specialty is the traditional light-weight guns of the 1930’s. All are impeccably rendered in fine metalwork.
In order to provide workmanship of the best quality, we are prepared to work only on genuine Colt (no ‘Cowboy’ models) or U.S. Firearms revolvers. Replacement parts necessary will be charged at market value. Due to chronic shortages and high costs of Colt parts, we may substitute comparable parts or ask our client’s assistance in locating them.
Please note: we no longer offer our services for nickel-plated guns.
Smith & Wesson Double-Action Revolvers
Smith & Wesson revolvers are among the finest ever made. No other double-action (and very few single-actions, for that matter) are as finely fitted and finished or as nicely detailed. Bowen Classic Arms is pleased to offer high-quality services for these guns, working as far as possible in the factory style to maintain proper form, finish and function.
Caliber conversions utilizing factory barrels and cylinders are a specialty as are tuning and sight packages on contemporary working revolvers. Prices for S&W services are similar to those for Redhawks but are somewhat higher due to the more involved nature of the work necessary to maintain Smith & Wesson quality.
